“In Her Word(s)”, Poetry by Adebe DeRango-Adem + Guests
In partnership with Literary Cleveland, Twelve Literary Arts are proud to present the final reading by TLA’s Barbara Smith poet-in-residence, Adebe DeRango-Adem, who has been in Cleveland for five weeks. Adebe is considered one of Canada’s most important poets-on-the-verge. She has published three collections of poetry, and is the co-editor of the anthology “Other Tongues: Mixed-Race Women Speak Out (2010).” Adebe will read from a collection of poems from her forthcoming collection of poems titled “Vox”, which she has been bringing to completion during her month-long residency in Cleveland. Poets Maya Jones, Mary Barrett, and Raja Belle Freeman will also read during this powerful event. A reception will follow the reading. The event is free, but all donations are welcome to support future Twelve Literary Arts programming.
The word “vox” is Latin and translated into English it means “voice.”
