CALLING ALL DANCERS ages 18+, from the professionals to the beginners, if youre looking for a fun performance or choreography opportunity, to challenge yourself with a new style of dance or perfect an old one...or even just looking to make friends with other Cleveland dancers, come out for the tenth OPEN CALL placement audition, all levels of dance experience and all styles of dance welcome and encouraged! Auditions are Sunday Aug 28, at the Pivot Center. There is plenty of parking on site. This audition process will allow dancers to meet the choreographers and audition for dances of their choice in a friendly group environment that will allow dancers to learn some basic choreography and display their own dance style and personality. We will do our best to place everyone who attends in at least one piece, however you increase your chances at being cast by ranking more pieces and ranking pieces that are at a level appropriate to your skill.
Our showcase is on Saturday Dec 3, at Cleveland Heights High School. All dancers must be available for two shows that day (3pm & 7pm), as well as for dress rehearsal Friday evening (Dec 2) and a tech rehearsal Thurs or Fri Dec 1/2 evening.
REHEARSALS will be held once a week for 90 minutes, starting after Labor Day until Nov 30. Schedules will be pre-set before auditions so you know what you can commit to. Rehearsals will be held at studios all over the greater Cleveland/Akron area, choreographer bios and tentative rehearsal schedule will be posted by Aug 8 on our website.
There is a $25 nonrefundable audition fee for all dancers. Space at auditions is limited - payment will save your spot. In addition to the audition fee, there is a $75 tuition per piece you are cast in, due by your first rehearsal.
CDP has two scholarship programs - a talent scholarship and a minority scholarship. Application deadlines are Aug 28.
If you cant make auditions but still want to perform, register online but then e-mail us a video of you dancing, plus your $25 audition fee. Keep in mind, casting preference will be given to those who attend auditions but we will do our best to place you if we can!
Pre-registration & prepayment of your audition fee is REQUIRED by Saturday Aug 27 to save your space.

Our auditions are broken down by level so that dancers are being appropriately challenged:
- Beginner is for people with little to no technical dance experience
- Intermediate is for dancers with basic jazz/ballet technique and/or experience with other dance styles (i.e. hip hop, ballroom, cultural dances, etc)
- Int/Adv is for dancers with solid jazz/ballet tech, comfortable with floorwork, able to improv
- Advanced is for technical dancers with professional/pre-pro/post-professional jazz/ballet technique who are very comfortable with improv

You will be eligible to audition for all pieces, no matter which group you attend. We encourage you to place yourself appropriately to allow yourself to really shine amongst dancers who are at your level!
We strongly encourage early attendance as we will start promptly at the audition time and there are forms that need to be filled out during the sign in period.
